PDAG Presents British Academy Planetary Health Project in London and Ranchi

PDAG, as the Indian research partner in the British Academy-funded project Planetary Health and Relational Wellbeing: Investigating the Ecological and Health Dimensions of Adivasi Lifeworlds in India, developed To Stand Firm: Adivasi Perspectives on Autonomy and Wellbeing from a Changing Planet — an exhibition of adivasi stories, songs, histories and artistic expressions of Santal, Ho, Paniya and Irula communities.

The exhibition was first presented at the University of Westminster in London and was later hosted by PDAG at Audrey House in Ranchi under the title Tengo Daram: To Stand Firm. It showed that climate change and well-being cannot be understood separately from land, forests, livelihoods, identity and political autonomy.

PDAG also convened a stakeholder workshop in Ranchi, connecting the exhibition’s ideas with research, policy and development practice in Jharkhand.

The project brought together researchers from the University of Westminster, the National Law School of India University and partner organisations working in Jharkhand and Kerala. It studies how Adivasi communities understand the connections between health, the environment, livelihoods, culture, self-governance and well-being.
