PDAG’s research briefs on labour mobility between India and Europe were shared at the closing forum of the Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility II project in New Delhi. PDAG prepared the briefs under an assignment with the International Labour Organization.

The research examined India’s labour-mobility relationships with Germany, Austria, Italy and France. Each brief studied the opportunities, challenges and policy systems shaping the movement of workers between India and the selected European country.

The briefs covered labour demand, skills and qualification recognition, recruitment processes, language preparation, social protection and cultural integration. They also examined how governments, employers, training institutions and recruitment agencies can work together to create safer and more reliable mobility pathways.

The CDMM II closing forum brought together the Government of India, the European Commission, the EU Delegation to India and Bhutan, EU Member States, international organisations, academia, industry, civil society and social partners. The forum reflected on the project’s work in legal migration, student mobility, skills recognition and the prevention of irregular migration.

By sharing the briefs at the forum, PDAG contributed practical evidence to future India–EU cooperation on labour mobility and migrant welfare.
