Her Political Journey

In 2019 and 2020, PDAG co-hosted #HerPoliticalJourney with Twitter India (Now X), a policy and communications dialogue with women-elected representatives across two Indian states, Haryana and Jharkhand. The programme consisted of a 360-degree communications campaign to drive engagement, interest and conversations around the experiences of women candidates contesting elections. This carefully crafted communications programme consisted of live broadcasting of the roundtable discussion, promotion of social media engagement, endorsements by key digital influencers and known policymakers along with intensive offline and online media coverage.

#HerPoliticalJourney was executed to drive a central discourse around increased participation of women in political, economic and social platforms, women’s rights and women’s empowerment (SDG 5.5) through the narratives of these exceptional women in politics. The program saw the active endorsement of the campaign by elected representatives, multilateral leadership (UN Women Global Deputy Executive Director and iKnowPolitics – a joint project of IDEA, Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP & UN Women), key women political representatives across India and journalists from their own official Twitter accounts. The panel discussions were further covered on regional and national TV, print and digital media platforms such as Livemint, Economic Times, News 18 Network, and more.
